Chronicling My Ruby on Rails Journey

About

First off, I am in the process of releasing my website and could use some enthusiastic Ruby on Rails developers (perhaps even co-founders?), especially those in Bay Area, CA, that are interested in further developing the website. Drop me a comment here or send email to support at jiggyme dot com and I will get in touch with you, maybe we can work something out.

I created this blog to share my experience working with Ruby on Rails on the Windows platform. I intend to deploy the final application on Linux but that’s a whole another story, first I need to get my initial development done on Windows. It’s just simpler for me being a Windows user / developer for many years to use Windows as my development platform. Anyway, this blog entails my trials and tribulation during my learning process.

Prior to starting development, I read most of this book “Agile Web Development with Rails” by Dave Thomas, 2nd edition. This is a great book but it also shows that RoR is failry complex underneath the hood. It’s easy to generate the scaffold but it isn’t really functional for any real use. I don’t intend for this blog to give you a tutorial on Ruby on Rails, you should read the book instead. Hence the blog assumes a certain level of Ruby on Rails knowledge.

I don’t make any guarantees about the accuracy of the information, use it at your own risk. If you have any questions, please feel free to post comments.

Thanks,
Bob
